I saw this video on the Send Network today, and I really appreciated this resource on when you get a building. I think for many church plants (me included), you get really tired of the set up and tear down process of being a portable church. We want to be good stewards of our resources but realize that there are benefits to having a building. Churches that invest in a purchase or big renovation of a building space are often financially locked in and strapped for cash. They have to stop investing in salaries, local ministry, and major needs that come up and start living paycheck to paycheck.

I don’t think that getting a building is wrong, but I definitely think the time has to be right.

Daniel Savage, our associate pastor at Redemption Church, and I met with a local guy a little while ago about some creative possibilities for being good stewards of resources and an affordable way to get a building. I might be writing more about that at some point! It’s good stuff.
